Many of us believe that the 2012 change involves the mechanics of our very consciousness, the internal process by which we view the world and our relationship to it. Many in the fields of metaphysics, religion, and ancient history suspect that this time represents a change from duality to unity consciousness. But what does that really mean? What might these changes bring about in our lives at a personal and collective level?
A Change In Consciousness Brings About A Change In ExperienceWe now know that how we see the world is how we end up experiencing it. Part of seeing and understanding the world means perceiving the relationship between one human being to another.
What makes this so fascinating is that current science; specifically the field of quantum physics is also asserting that what we know as consciousness is in fact the fundamental field from which the physical universe emerges - including what we know as matter. In short, it is believed that consciousness is the universe and the ground of all being. This view makes what we call consciousness primary to what we call matter. Not a small distinction.
Some of the most influential thinkers in quantum mechanics now contend that what we know as consciousness not only resides inside of us as individuals, it lives in all of us and in everything that surrounds us, including all forms and expressions of matter, organic or inorganic. According to quantum physics we are literally swimming in a sea of subatomic consciousness that is both intelligent and purposeful. Renowned physicists such as David Bohm and Ervin Laszlo refer to this pervasive and all encompassing subatomic field of consciousness as the Plenum.
Space Is Not Empty - The PlenumQuantum physics has discovered a most amazing thing: there is no such thing as empty space, not even in a vacuum. Everything according to quantum physics is connected to everything else through this infinite and subatomic field of energy. The implications of this finding is both staggering and far reaching not the least of which asserts that everything within the field of space-time is connected to everything else within space-time no matter the distance or time between them. What we believed to be separate from us is actually part of us in a most profound way and that changes everything.
What there is at the center of all existence, says quantum physics, is a pervasive and all encompassing field of infinite consciousness, intelligence and energetic potential. It is the underlying field, the deep basement that holds all of space-time together. The infinite field, the ground of all being is the intelligent and progressive force behind the loving hand of evolution, in which we as human beings play an integral and necessary role in the process.
The Wave & The OceanConsider the following illustration. Imagine yourself as a single wave amid millions of other waves traveling across the ocean. Each wave, one after another, is rushing and pushing towards the others.
It's scary business being a wave and you conclude that the ocean is indeed a dangerous place. As the little wave keeps moving faster and faster it notices that the waves behind it keep building speed and momentum pushing the little wave closer to the waves in front of it.
Like a crowd running from a burning building, the little wave believes it must keep moving as quickly as possible to survive. The little wave begins to think the waves in front of it have an advantage and the ones behind it a disadvantage. The wave begins to see itself as both the threat and the threatened at the very same time. It's a confusing and frightening paradox and the little wave begins to fear that if it does not move faster the others will and it will mean the end for the little wave.
Then suddenly out of nowhere the little wave hears a voice that whispers, stop running little one. what is behind you and in front of you is also you. The wave then with great fear and trepidation saw itself for the very first time. The little wave found the courage to look below and saw that the ocean was in the wave and the wave was in the ocean. Indeed, the little wave realized that not only was it the ocean, it was also all the waves behind it and all the waves in front of it. It realized that it had been everything all along. It was never separate from the rest.
Having realized the separation from the ocean had been only an illusion, the little waive began to cry in relief having seen that there was nothing to run from, nothing to chase, nothing to fear, no place it needed to go or be it realized it was both everything and one thing at the very same time. The ocean had been in the wave and the wave had been in the ocean all along. It realized it had never been alone not even in its dreams.
We Perceive Ourselves As The "Other" Rather Then The "Whole"The realization of being the totality is also the end of the illusion of its own separation, its own duality. It is this great realization that marks the end of one human perspective and the birth of another. This change in perspective is so fundamental and profound that it changes everything we thought we knew about ourselves. It is the end of seeing the world as something separate from us. It is the end of duality and the beginning of unity consciousness.
Seeing ourselves separate from the other is what metaphysics refers to as duality and it is how most of us view our existence here. But this is an incomplete picture of what we experience and know. It describes only one aspect of our conscious existence. The part that provides us free will and individual destiny is the same consciousness that lives within us all. We are the whole and we are the ones within the one.
The Plenum - Ocean Of ConsciousnessWe can experience ourselves as separate from the others yet we are the others at the same time. We are individuated forms of the quantum plenum expressing itself through the evolving consciousness of each and every human being on the planet. We are all part and parcel of both the collective and the individual experience manifesting through 6.8 billion individual unique points of view - the sum total of humanity - awakening from its illusion of separation and duality.
We are the eternal event of conscious creation interacting, evolving and moving through countless expressions of its self. We are the consciousness from which all things emanate and from which all things return. We are the ones watching and we are also the ones doing what is being watched and it is this grand recognition that will move us from one perceived reality to the next. It is the birth of consciousness dreaming the dream of physical existence. It is this fundamental realization that is evolving into a pervasive reality that is culminating in the year 2012 and beyond.
From Duality To Unity Consciousness - The Great 2012 ShiftEach of us will soon come face-to-face with a profound and utterly fantastic paradox the sate of realizing that we are both individual versions of consciousness, and at the same time, we are the sum total of human consciousness. It is the place in which we are both the observer and the observed. It is the place in which we discover our essence and finally know ourselves for the very first time. We discover to our great relief and joy that our individual perspective of separateness is illusory and that each of us have been made to feel separate and disconnected from others out of fear and distortion of what is true about ourselves and our reality.
In truth, there has never been a fall from grace. Rather we have always known the truth behind the truth, that we have never been separate from creation. The illusion born of the great mystery is also the seed from which our own enlightenment is brought forth. This is the meaning of our awakening to a new world. This is the era of awakening and change that 2012 prophesy represents.
2012 is the time of a great and pervasive paradigm shift from one level of consciousness to another. It is the force of our own evolution lovingly moving us into greater and more spectacular versions of ourselves. We become both this and that, here and there, you and me. It is this ever expanding field of infinite consciousness expressing itself through its parts in order to rejoin itself as the whole.
